The global digital dentistry market is projected to reach US$17.2 billion by 2032, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.6 per cent, according to a new report by SNS Insider.

In 2023, the market was valued at US$6.96 billion. The growth is being driven by technological advancements such as 3D printing and CAD/CAM systems, greater awareness of oral hygiene, and increasing demand for cosmetic dental procedures.

    U.S. digital dentistry

The U.S. digital dentistry market accounted for roughly 33.5 per cent of global market share in 2023, totalling US$2.33 billion. It is expected to more than double to US$5.72 billion by 2032, with a CAGR of 10.49 per cent.

The contributing factors behind digital dentistry growth in the U.S. include advanced healthcare infrastructure, higher patient spending, widespread adoption of digital tools in dental practices and academic institutions, and supportive legislation like the proposed Medicare Dental Benefit Act.

Global demand is also being fuelled by an aging population and a growing interest in minimally invasive procedures, digital impressions and AI-powered smile design software.

NA led global market in 2023

North America led the global market in 2023 with a revenue share of 43 per cent, driven by the presence of major industry players, high-cost procedures, favourable insurance policies and strong medical research centres. Meanwhile, the Asia-Pacific region is expected to experience the fastest growth, supported by rising healthcare investment and a growing middle class in countries such as China, India and South Korea.

A previous market analysis by Grand View Research estimated the global digital dentistry market at US$6.8 billion in 2023, with a projected CAGR of 9.9 per cent from 2025 to 2030.

Recent developments shaping the digital dentistry landscape include:

    • November 2022: Imagoworks Inc. launched 3Dme Crown, an AI-based web CAD solution for crown prosthesis design tailored to a patient’s oral environment.
    • October 2022: DEXIS introduced its IS portfolio, a comprehensive line of intraoral imaging solutions that cover all stages of digital scanning.
