Dua Lipa’s Dainty Floral Manicure Is the Cutest Summer Inspo

Stars are for spring, flowers are for summer. I don’t make the rules—but Dua Lipa does.

In an Instagram post shared Tuesday, June 3, the 29-year-old showed off the cutest black-and-white flower manicure. If you analyze her photos closely, you’ll see that her transition from metallic stars to graphic blooms happened sometime during the time period represented in her photo dump. One day she was enjoying caviar service, and the next she had hand-painted, Spongebob-esque florals on her nails. That’s how you know it’s summer!!

Dua Lipa’s Flower Manicure

The nail art was created by London-based celebrity nail artist Michelle Humphrey, who can rock a simple dark shade or all-out disco ball design with ease. Lipa’s set was long and oval shaped with a clear jelly base that let us see her natural nail underneath. Humphrey then painted little black flowers with white centers on every finger, sticking two to a nail for the most part (her lucky thumbs received three) and finishing with a glossy top coat.

The mani was with Lipa as she took the stage for her Radical Optimism tour and practiced some handstands during her off time. The stars lasted a couple of Instagram carousels—she’s famous for those photo dumps!—so I think it’s fair to say we haven’t seen the last of this manicure. But if we have… I’m glad we were able to stop and appreciate the flowers while she had them.

How to Get the Look

… Or we can just get the look ourselves and keep the fun going all summer? As far as nail art goes, this is a fairly simple design to master. A dotting tool will be your best friend, and you can use any two polishes you please for your flowers. If you want black and white, China Glaze’s Liquid Leather and Dazzle Dry’s White Lightening are top tier.
